Royal Court Cards

The court cards are Tarot personalities – King, Queen, Knight and Page for each of the suits. What are they for us? Court cards are markers of us and the people on our life path – pages, knights, kings and queens of the four suits – Pentacles, Cups, Wands and Swords. This part of the deck can tell a lot about us, about the way we perceive our near and dear and the way they see us; it can give advice on upcoming business talks or warn about deceit and manipulations, yanking off the mask of a partner or a loved one.

Seniority of cards is often associated with age, status and power that a person has in life, whilst the suit – Pentacles, Cups, Wands and Swords – gives a more complete understanding of their intentions and character. Pages are often associated with children, but they can also indicate an adult with a distinct "inner child" and children's traits in behavior, infantile or fragile. Girls and women of a specific "child" type are often pages. Knights are more of a "teenager" card, often indicating people who stand on their own two feet more confidently. Kings and Queens are powerful cards, which presuppose a specific characteristic and are not always directly linked to a specific sex marked by that card – a powerful influential woman can hide behind a King.

If we study court cards in the layouts carefully, we can make a prognosis as to who you will meet at an interview – a Knight of Swords who will try to prove that you are bad specialist or a practical and rational Knight of Pentacles.  Who is your partner – a King of Pentacles, powerful and influential as you assumed or an ambitious, passionate, impetuous (and rather polyamorous) Knight of Wands? Cards allow for endless talks, jokes and even gossip (primarily about ourselves). They are perfect listeners when it comes to social roles, discussion of traits and characteristics of people. 

Cards are integral when you want to understand yourself. Who you are in your own eyes – the tender, sensual and well-versed Knight of Cups or the practical, well-dressed, gourmet, luxury loving Queen of Pentacles? The conversation on how others see us – colleagues, relatives and spouses – can take hours. It will help answer the question on how we are perceived by those around us and how/what we need to develop in ourselves for our image to approach their expectations.
